ALIEN - Movie Review

The corniness of most 80's sci-fi movies is dismissed in this film by it's realistic approach & unexpected surprises. The killing is monumental and it wasn't  rushed like most horror/slasher films. The given screen time of the Alien was also sensibly limited that it was effective jumpcare tool whenever it appears. I read that before it was in the cinemas, producers didn't gave away any images of the creatures to movie promos, so guess what its like watching it for the first time.

The graphics and set design was also astounding considering the year it was made, for instance Nostromo was built without the noticeable futuristic amateur approach to mimic a spacecraft, it was too real from the use of the DOS based computers to the glitches and even the buttons.

But the greatest and also the bedrock of what made Alien different from other extraterrestrial movies would be the concept brought in by H.P Giger when he created the whole image of the Alien and its environment. It would have been mediocre if they went to work with  Chris Fossor  Jean "Moebius" Giraud. (as per Wikepedia).

My only question is, why is there a cat in the spaceship? I honestly knew that it was added to create a scene where it was the reason why someone will have to die and it really did happened with Brett, but  that was overshadowed when they introduced the Alien on a different form that deflected the viewers from the expected death to conceptualize a question of how fast does the creature grow?

One characters being non-human was also part of the unpredictability and during the conversation with the crew it gives question of if the government already knew about the existence of the unknown thing.

And the minimal approach of the title and how it is gradually revealed was so iconic.

Overall this is definitely a classic that deserve a 5 out 5 ratings and surely one that needs to be seen by everyone.
